Rock In Rio has become one of the most popular international music festivals in the world. It started in 1985 and was headlined by Queen in what has become one of the legendary English rock band’s most notorious live concerts. There hasn’t been a festival every year since 1985 as they did not host another show until 1991 which was headlined by Guns n’ Roses, and didn’t host a third show until 2001 when Red Hot Chili Peppers manned the main stage. In 2004 they hosted the show in Portugal, and in 2008 the show took place in both Madrid and Lisbon, Portugal. Since 2011, Rock in Rio has gone on to draw massive crowds and star-studded lineups in either Rio, Lisbon, or Madrid, with the outlier host of Las Vegas in 2015. Queen will always be associated with Rock In Rio as they put the event on the map with their unforgettable performance in 1985. “Love Of My Life” is one of many iconic songs that Freddie Mercury, Brian May and the rest of Queen took Rio by storm with that night. In 2015, Brian May and Queen revisited Rock In Rio and played a beautiful tribute to Freddie Mercury along with the help of an incredible crowd with a second performance of “Love Of My Life” which can be seen below.
This year Rock In Rio is set to take place beginning on September 27, 2019, and wrapping up on October 6th, 2019 in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. The headliners are Muse, Pink, Imagine Dragons, Iron Maiden and more. For more information and for tickets please visit: http://rockinrio.com/rio/en
